AMSTELVEEN, 27 JANUARY 2019 - Under relentless rain, wind and cold the 3rd edition of the Sri Chinmoy Inspiration Marathon and Half Marathon took place. 34 brave marathon runners and 20 brave half marathon runners toed the line at the Bosbaan, the Olympic rowing track in the Forest of Amsterdam.

The marathon was won by Emile Dercksen in 2.53.43, followed by Addie van der Vleuten in 3.01.16 and Gerard van der Laan in 3.23.43. In the women's race ultramarathon veterans Jannet Lange and Wilma Dierckx became the numbers one and two respectively, with Jannet clocking 3.38.34 and Wilma finishing in 3.50.47. Third place was achieved by Monika Hille in 4.13.56.

The half marathon witnessed a new course record, an amazing achievement under the tough weather conditions. Koula Mohammed from Morrocco (in the photo above) set a blithering pace and only needed 1.09.20 to finish the 21.1 kilometres around the Bosbaan. Last year's winner Soufiyan Elbourabia came second in 1.15.39. Isidro de paz Garcia from Spain was third in 1.49.51.

The women's half marathon was won by Nora Salzmann in 1.50.09. Runner-up was Miranda Driessen in 1.55.42 and third place went to Paulien Nap in 2.04.34.
